3 Templates to Improve Your Hiring Results through Performance Tasks

An interview can be a tricky activity. You sit across a table (physically or virtually) from someone and listen to them answer your questions, but often it’s difficult to assess their true competencies and skills for that particular role. Everyone puts on their best act in an interview, and if you’re not careful, you can mistake charisma and articulation for the ability to accomplish key aspects of a position.

This is what makes performance task interviews so powerful. When you present an interviewee a real challenge that relates directly to what they’re going to be doing in the role, there is nowhere to hide. It doesn’t matter about the story that they tell. The results are a true indicator of a candidate’s ability to succeed in that role.
