The Renaissance Network kicked off our 2018 events calendar at Bett2018. The London ExCel once again hosted a wide range of new innovations and inspirational guest speakers that push the educational possibilities inside and outside the classroom.
Overall, the conference seemed to have a diverse range of international companies with many of the traditional tech giants continuing to invest into the Education industry. We found that many of the growing International organizations continue to focus their sights on breaking into the US Education, and Asian markets.
For organizations looking to build their teams, the overriding theme at Bett2018 was a continued need for great Education talent with experience in growing businesses and advancing missions. A majority of companies still felt that the volume of great candidates was too low, but were still hesitant to look outside the industry for talent. Knowing the complexities of the Education space—in the US and Internationally—The Renaissance Network continues to advise businesses on the importance of Education experience but, recommend a stronger focus Education market training. Education industry experience is still listed as one of the top requirements for EdTech companies looking to hire strong Sales. Marketing, and Leadership talent.
The other major topic of conversation is the increasing influence EdTech is having on the wider talent market. Education has now become a viable option for many candidates looking to work within technology. This increased exposure has brought new pressures for companies to compensate talent accordingly. EdTech is now competing directly with more established technology markets and competition for the best talent is seeing an increase in salary for good talent. As EdTech continues to expand its influence comparatively to industries inside global private and public sectors, TRN feels that appropriate compensation levels will begin to reflect the average of these various industries and we expect EdTech organizations will adjust accordingly to acquire good talent.
